A.D. 1857 at a regular
meeting of the Board of County Commissioners
present Cornelius Rain, J.M. Sparkman and
Andrew Robb Judge of Probate President of the Board
a quorum being present the board proceeded to buss
item N1 ines in relation to the Petition from Mickanopy, for a
Paines Parerie to
pubilick road through ^ Gainesville - ordered
that the parties be notified that if the petitioners
will have the road made across the Parerie by
private contract, this court will order it to
be opened at both ends. item 2 J.G. Stroble
presented the Petition of sundry citizens to have an
old road opened from Newnansville to run near
or by the residence of Mr. J.G. Stroble to
intersect the fort Call road at, or near the place
where Mr. Simeon Dell resides, and that hereafter
it be declared a pubilick road - Ordered that
the prayer of the Petitioners be granted and that
said road shall be known and designated as
the "Underwood Road" and that J.G. Stroble
William Wimberly & Simeon Dell be
appointed commissioners on said road
item 3 - it is hereby ordered that James B. Bailey
be authorized to have a good well made
for the Pubilick Square in the Town of Gainesville
and a Pump put into the same for the use
of the Pubilick - item 4, it is hereby ordered
that William May be appointed a Road
Commissioner on the "Knight Road"
in the place of J.H. Malphrus, moved away
item 5 ordered that James Kelly be appointed
a Road Commissioner in the place of C.C. Stewart
deceased. item 6 - Ordered that J.B. Bailey
be authorized to purchase for the use of
the County two Iron safes of the size 3 feet
wide and four feet long to hold the pubilick
