1857 - The whole number of votes 
for the office of Judge of the Eastern circu
it was Three hundred and seventy eight 
(378) of which B.A. Putnam received three 
Hundred and seven and I. Wheaton 
received seventy votes (70) and J.M. 
Baker one vote (1).  For the office of solicitor 
the whole number of votes was two hundred 
and fifty Eight (258) of which J.B. Dawkins 
received one hundred and ninety six 
(196)  and S.M. Gary and S.M. Gary 
received sixty two (62) - for the office 
of Clerk of the Circuit Court the whole 
number of votes was four hundred 
and twenty five of which J.R. Bevill 
received two hundred and thirty Eight 
(238) and Lemuel Wilson one hundred 
and eighty seven (187) - For the office 
of tax Collector and assessor the whole 
number of votes Three hundred 
and ninety five (395) of which A.W. Cook 
received two hundred and nine (209) 
and M.D. Colson one hundred and 
Eighty six - for the office of Sheriff
