At a meeting of the County Commissioners
Present Geo W. Means Lewellen Williams Jas L
Cooper and E.H. Jordan president of the board
Ordered that the Tax for year 1859 be assessed
at fifteen per cent
Ordered that Samuel Burnett (Sheriff) be paid
for serving Road Commissioners whatever the law allows
Ordered that Madison Sparkman be paid
One dollar and sixty cents for conveying election
returns from Head St. Laffee to Gainesville
Ordered that Stephen Sparkman be paid two
dollars for conveying election returns from Fort
Harley to Gainesville
Ordered that John M. Miller be paid One
dollar and fifty Cents for Conveying election
returns from Orange Creek to Gainesville
Ordered that John M. Cooper &Co account for books
of twenty dollars and 88/100 be paid
Ordered that L. M. Scarborough's account for
books for Eleven dollars and 12/100 be paid
Ordered that E.H. Jordan, Judge of Probate, be paid
the amt of his account -- amount Twenty five
dollars and 60/100
Ordered that Ingram & Babcock's account for
Fifty three dollars & 40/100 for Books be paid
Ordered that the Tuition of any pauper orphan child
shall be paid out of the funds on hand this
day at Five dollars per quarter, provided
the Teacher shall Certify as to the time said
Child was at school, and further there shall
be two Witnesses as to the inability of said
Child or Children Schooling him or them selves
There being no further business the board
adjourned to meet again on the first Monday
in April
