Territory of Florida
		This Indenture made the Thirteenth day of November 
in the year of Our lord One thousand eight hundred and thirty, Between John Rodman 
of the City of St. Augustine in the Territory of Florida of the first part, and Julian 
C. Verplanck of the City of New York of the second part Witnesseth, that the 
said party of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of sixteen 
hundred and ninety Dollars, lawful money of the United States of America to 
him in hand paid, at or before the ensealimg and delivery of these presents by 
the said party of the second part, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged 
and the said party of the second part, his heirs, executors and administrators for
ever released and discharged from the same by these presents, hath granted 
bargained, sold, aliened, remised, released, enfeoffed conveyed and confirmed 
and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell, alien remise release, enfeoff 
convey and confirm, unto the said party of the second part, and to his heirs 
and assigns forever, All that certain tract or parcel of Land, containing One thousand 
one hundred and thirty one acres, situate lying and being, in that part of the 
Territory of Florida, usually called the Alachua County, and being and undivided 
part or portion of the undivided fourth part, belonging formerly to Peter Mitchel 
of St. Augustine aforesaid, of that tract or parcel of Land, consisting of four leagues 
to each point of the compass, or of two hundred and eighty nine thousand six 
hundred and forty five English acres, and five sevenths of an acre, and which said 
last mentioned tract or parcel of Land was granted by the Spanish Government 
to Fernando de la Mara Arredondo and Son of Havanna, by grant bearing date on 
or about the twenty second day of December in the year One thousand eight 
hundred and seventeen, which said One thousand one hundred and thirty one 
acres of land hereby conveyed, was sold and conveyed to the said party of the first 
part, by the said Peter Mitchel by Deed of Indenture bearing date the seventh 
day of October, in the year One thousand eight hundred and twenty four, and 
recorded in the Office of the Clerk of the County of St. Johns in Book E. Page 
228, and the said One thousand One hundred and thirty one acres of land hereby 
conveyed are, in point of quality and value, to be of a fair and equal quality 
and value, with the residue of the said undivided fourth part of the said tract or 
parcel of land, formerly owned, by the said Peter Mitchel, and, all the heredi
taments, rights, members and appurtenances, unto the said One thousand One 
hundred & thirty one acres of land, belonging, or in any wise appertaining, and 
all the Estate, right, title, interest, claim and demand of every kind, whatsoever, 
both in Law and in Equity of him the said John Rodman of, in, out of 
or upon the said land and premises hereby granted and released or intended 
so to be, and every part thereof. - To have and to hold the said
