This Indenture made this second day Ju
ly in the year one thousand eight hundred and 
twenty eight, Between John Rodman of the City 
of St. Augustine in the Teritory of Florida of the 
first part and John Lee of the City of Boston 
in the State of Massachusetts of the second part 
Witnesseth, that the said party of the first part 
for and in consideration of the sum of ten thousand 
Dollars to him in hand paid by the said party 
of the second part, the receipt whereof is hereby 
acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold 
and by these presents doth grant bargain and 
sell unto the said party of the second part and 
to his heirs and assigns forever, Five thousand 
acres of land being an undivided part or parcil 
and portion of that tract or parcil of land containing 
and consisting of Eighty leagues square, or three 
hundred and sixty eight thousand six hundred and 
forty acres situate and lying on the waters of 
Tampa and Hillsborough Bays in the Teritory 
of Florida aforesaid which said tract of land 
was granted to Don Pedro Mirando by the Span
ish Government by a grant bearing date the twen
ty sixth day of November one thousand eight hundred 
and ten and which said five thousand acres 
are to be of a fair and Equal value with the 
residue of said lands so granted to the said 
Don Pedro Mirando, as aforesaid confirma
bly to a deed for the said Five thousand a
cres from the said Pedro Mirando to the 
said John Rodman bearing date the twenty 
ninth day of October in the year of one thou
sand eight hundred and twenty four and 
which deed is recorded in the Office of the public 
records of the Clerk of St. Johns County Court 
the said last mentioned day in Book E page 
262 together with all and singular the her
editaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging
