On the seventh day of January One thousand eight hundred & twenty five personally appeared
before me William P. VanNess, Judge of the District Court of the United States for the South
ern District of New York, Samuel Storm one of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing
Deed, who being identified to my satisfaction & duly sworn, did depose and say, that he
is a subscribing witness to the said instrument, and that he was present & saw Burr
H. Betts, execute the same, as the attorney of Don Fernando de la Mara Arredondo & Son
as his voluntary act, for the uses and purposes therein mentioned, which being Satis
factory evidence to me of the due execution thereof & having examined the same and
finding no material interlineations, alteration or erasures therein, I do allow the same to

This Indenture made the sixteenth day of February in the year of Our Lord
One thousand eight hundred and twenty eight Between Ichabod Prall of the City
and State of New York Merchant, party of the first part, and Walter Mead of the same
City and State party of the second part, Witnesseth, That the said party of the first
part, for and in consideration of the sum of three thousand seven hundred & Ninety six
Dollars and eleven cents, lawful money of the United States of America to him in
hand paid, at or before the sealing & delivery of these presents, by the said party of
the second part, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, and the said party
of the first part therewith fully satisfied, contented and paid, hath remised released,
and quit claimed, and by these presents doth remise, release and quit claim
unto the said party of the second part, and to his heirs and assigns forever, all the
equal undivided two thirds of ten thousand acres of Land, being an undivided part of
thirty thousand acres of Land, which thirty thousand acres of Land is an undivided
part of a large tract of land containing, Two hundred and eighty nine thousand Six
hundred and forty five Acres and five sevenths of an acre, situate lying & being in the
Alachua Territory in East Florida, west of St. Augustine, as by reference to the grant
made to Don Fernando de la Mara Arredondo and Son of the said tract by the Spanish
Government, which grant is dated at Havanna, on the twenty second day of Dec
ember in the year of Our Lord One thousand eight hundred & seventeen will more
fully appear, the said large tract of Two hundred & eighty nine thousand
six hundred and forty five acres and five sevenths of an acre, is to be divided
into twelve parts, and those parts to be balloted for by the parties interested |
