John Odum & Mayberry Odum } Scott
On this day came the Solicitor
of the State of Florida John P. Sanderson Esqr. who
prosecutes the pleas of the State in this behalf, and
the defendants in person, and James A. Scott Esqr. their
attorney, and the said defendants plead not guilty,
Thereupon came a Jury, to wit, Peter Sparkman, Wm
J. Turner, Cornelius Johns, John Ceylon, Wayne Tullis,
W.W. Scott, James A. Sparkman James Stokes
Pendarvis, Wm Colson, S.W. Burnett, Joseph Thomas
and Israel Sherouse who were duly elected tried and
a true verdict to give
sworn the truthto speak upon the issue joined between
the State of Florida, and the said defendants
Isham Peacock Gabriel Sanchez and John Brooker
were examined as witnesses in behalf of the prosecution
Joseph G. Bell, Wm D. Clark and James Bevill were
examined as witnesses in behalf of the defence, And
the Jury having heard the evidence and the arguments of
Counsel, and the charge of the Court, retired out of Court to
consider of their verdict, and thereafter and upon the same
day, the said Jury returned into Court and rendered the fol=
-lowing verdict, We the Jury find the defendant John Odum
guilty and assess his punishment at a fine of five dollars,
and we find the defendant Mayberry Odum not guilty
Thereupon the defendant John Odum is remanded into
custody until the fine and costs be paid, and the defen-
-dant Mayberry Odum is discharged from custody

On this day came as well the Solicitor
of the State of Florida John P. Sanderson Esqr. who pros-
=ecutes the pleas of the State in this behalf, and the defen-
=dant in person and James A. Scott Esqr. his attorney, and
the said defendant pleads not guilty, By consent of the
Solicitor and of the Counsel for the defendant, it was agreed
that this case be tried by Eleven Jurors, Thereupon came
a Jury to wit, James Pendarvis, Wm Colson, Cornelius Johns
Wm J. Turner, Wayne Tillis, Peter Sparkman, W.W.
Scott, James M. Sparkman Joseph Thomas, John
Celon, and Israel Sherouse, who were duly elected |
