To wit: whom these presents Shall come: Greetings
Whereas, by an act of the General Assembly of the State of Florida
approved the 27th December in the year eighteen hundred and forty
five, entitled an act regulating the appointment of Masters in
Chancery, and defining there duties, it is enacted in the first Section
thereof, that the Judges of the Circuit Courts in their respective
Circuits, may appoint as many Masters in Chancery, as Such Judges
may find necessary, who shall receive the appointment in writing from
the Judge making the same, which Shall be recorded on the
minutes of the Court, and shall continue in office until removed
by the Court. Now Know Ye, that, I, William A. Forward,
Judge of the Circuit Court of the Eastern Circuit of Florida
confiding on the integrity and ability of you the said Charles H.
Pelot, by virtue of the power so vested in me as aforesaid, Have
constituted and appointed, and by these presents do constitute and
appoint you Master in Chancery, to perform under the direction of
the said Court, all the duties, which, under the Statutes of Florida, and
according to the practice in Chancery appertaining to the office, and
also to exercise and have all the powers within the County of Alachua,
confered on Masters in Chancery, by the rules of practice prescribed
by the Supreme Court of the United States, for the Chancery
Courts of the United States, in force in this State on the said 27th
December A.D. 1845, and which may hereafter be in force in Said
State In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand this
31st day of May one thousand eight hundred and fifty four
