who were sworn well and truly to try the issues between the said parties
and a true verdict give therein according to evidence.
Joel B. Smith was sworn to give evidence on the part of the Plaintiff
and Bennet M. Dell, Samuel Russell, N.P. Stafford, and Elias
Gieger, were sworn on the part of the Defendant.
After hearing the testimony in the case, the arguments of Counsel and the
Charge of the Court, the Jury retired to deliberate upon their verdict
and afterward returned into Court and say that they find for the
Plaintiff and assess his Damages at Six hundred and seventy one
Dollars and seventy five cents, and find assetts to the amount of
Seven Dollars.

Now on this day personally appeared in open Court George W. Aldrich
Bennet M. Dell and Samuel Russell and acknowledged themselves
to owe and stand indebted to the Governor of Florida, and his successors
in office, that is to say George W. Aldrich in the sum of Five hundred
Dollars, and Bennet M. Dell and Samuel Russell in the sum of
Two hundred and fifty Dollars each, lawful money of the United States
to be made and levied of their respective goods and chattels, lands, and
tenements, if the said George W. Aldrich shall fail in performing the
following condition, that is to say: that the said George W. Aldrich
shall personally be and appear at the next Term of the Circuit Court
to be held for the Counties of Alachua and Levy to answer to an indict-
ment returned into said Court against him for selling liquor to a
Slave without license, and not depart thence without leave of the
Court, then this recognisance to be null and void, else to remain
in full force and virtue.
