             Tuesday December 11t 1855

  vs.  Exor &c           } Assumpsit
Edward R. Power          }  McLin
  On this day came the parties by their respective attor
neys and on motion of plaintiff's attorney It is ordered
that the writ of Inquiry in this cause awarded, be quashed
and by consent of parties It is further ordered that the plain
tiff do have judgment for the sum of One hundred & twenty
Dollars and Eighteen cents, Whereupon It is ordered
considered and adjudged by the Court that the plaintiff do
have and recover of and from the defendant the said Sum
of One Hundred twenty Dollars and Eighteen cents together
with the costs of suit in this behalf Expended Taxed at
Three  Dollars and Seventy five cents & the defend
ant in mercy &c

The State of Florida  }    Solicitor
        vs.           }  Assault with intent to Kill
Matthew B. Hawkins    }    Lancaster & Edwards
       On this day came the Solicitor James M. Baker Esqr. 
who prosecutes the pleas of the State in this behalf, as well 
also as the prisoner in person,  who having Entered the plea 
of Not Guilty thereupon came a Jury to wit.

who having been duly sworn well and truly to try and 
true deliverance make between the State of Florida and 
the prisoner at the Bar, having heard the testimony 
of witnesses the arguments of Counsel and the Charge of 
the Court, retired in charge of a Sworn Bailiff to consider 
of their verdict and afterwards to wit on the same day 
returned into court and rendered the following verdict 
to wit:  We the Jury find the defendant guilty of an 
assault and assess the fine at one Dollar Whereupon 
it is ordered, considered and adjudged by the Court that 
the defendant do pay a fine of one Dollar to-
gether with the costs of this prosecution and it is further
ordered that the defendant do stand committed until 
the same be paid & the defendant in mercy &c
