Sheriff may direct,
Rule 11 There Shall be and is hereby vested in the Chair-
man of the Board the power to direct and control the
operations and labor of the Convicts Subject thereto
and to proscribe the duties of the officers in charge
thereof So as that no resignation neglect of duty
or refusal to act upon the part of the regular chosen
officers shall defeat the regular employment of
the Convicts according to the contemplations of the
law and in accordance with the rules herein estab-
lished. Provided that this authority, which is intend-
ed to be ample for any emergency Shall not con-
tinue to be exercised beyond the next regular meeting
of the Board of the County Commissioners after the
occasion therefor without their Special warrant be
given for its continuance
The Guard in charge of the convicts will make a
Report the 1st day of each Month except when
Such first day shall occur on Sunday then upon
the 2nd day, the number and condition of the tools
Material &c on hand and the amount and man-
ner and kind of work done and all other matters
pertinent thereto.
463 Ordered that the Building on the Jail Lot be
turned over to the Sheriff by its present occupant
to be rented and that the Sheriff be required
instructed to inquire if any rent has been paid
for it & to whom.
464 Ordered that the account of James B. Dawkins
for certified copy of resolutions and Rules
for Government of Convicts for two dollars
and fifty cents be paid by the County
Treasurer in United States Currency $2.50
465 Ordered that W.P. Tompkins Joseph Blake and
M McCarroll J.S. Martin be appointed road commission-
ers on Road district Twenty Four vis from Gaines-
ville to Antiock.
466 Ordered that the clerk notify the Road Com-
missioners to have the roads in the County worked
immediately.
467 Ordered that the account of S.F. Roux for
Irons and Ironing Prisoners for the Sum of twenty
