Resolved that this Board of County Commissioners here
organize as a Board of equalization to equalize the Taxes of
the County of Alachua for 1873 and to hear and determine all cases
of unjust assessment whatsoever.
Ordered That the Board of equalazation adjourn
until the first Monday in July
Ordered that the Board of County Commis-
sioners adjourn until the 16th of July

Board met; Present L.G. Dennis W.F. Rice and Henry
James, also W.K. Cessna Clerk.
The Committee appointed at a recent meeting of the Board
for the purpose of examining and reporting upon the propriety
of relieving the bondsman of John E. Hicks late Tax Collector
reported as follows;
At a late meeting of the County Commission for Alachua
County, it was on motion referred to W.K. Cessna and T.A.
McDonald County Solicitor to settle the matter of contro-
versy with A.H. Lenard one of the securities upon the bond
given by John E. Hicks former Tax Collector of Aluchua
County which Bond was dated the ninth(9th) day of
November 1868 payable in the final sum of Twenty six
Thousand Dollars to the State of Florida.
Upon Examination we have agreed to compromise
the matter with A.H. Lenard Surety upon the said Bond
and discharge and release him from all liability there
on upon his buying into the County Board the sum of
seventeen hundred (1700) Dollars in scrip or otherwise
and recommend the County Board to sign and deliver
to him the accompanying Release
