& Henry McIntyre Commissioners of the County of
Alachua and their Successors in office of
the first part and W.J. Lawton of Duval Co
Fla of the second part,
                     Witnesseth that the party
of the second part doth covenant promise
& agree to and with the party of the first part
that the party of the Second part doth covenant
promise & agree to erect build & complete or
cause to be erected built and completed on the
Jail Lot being Block .7. & Range 1, in the 
City of Gainesville in Said County of Alachua
- a good & Substantial Jail & Jailors Residence
of the dimensions description & material men-
tioned & specified in "Specifications for Building
a Jail for Alachua County & according to a plan
made by Geo Hoover Architect now of file in
the Clerks office of Alachua County in Said
State. And Said Lawton will provide at his
own expense all the materials & workmanship
necessary for the erection & completion of Said
building according to Said Specifications &
plans,
     And the Said Lawton will deliver to
the party of 1st part Said Building complete
on or before the 1st day of December AD 1878.
unless said delivery be prevented by neglect
or refusal of the Said party of the first part
to pay up in warrants on the Treasurer of
Alachua County due from the date thereof
the installments as herein provided or from
some providential cause, And the party of the
1st part in Consideration of the foregoing coven-
ants & agreements of the party of the 2nd part
& upon his performing the Same as herein
provided will pay, or cause to be paid to the party
of the 2nd part the Sum of Sixteen thousand
Dollars in the due warrants of the County
in Manner & form following to wit: When the
excavations for the foundations & the packing
of the Same & the foundation walls are all
laid & the bottom tier of Joists are in position
