On motion Board adjourned to meet tomorrow
morning at 9 o'clock.
Thursday July 8th 1875
Board met; present L.G. Dennis, W.F. Rice,
Henry James, Paul Brown and E.C.F. Sanchez
also W.H. Belton Clerk.
The Board proceeded to the equalization of the
assessments for the year 1875. It was
151 Ordered, that the assessor be instructed and re
quired to assess no lands in this County for less
than one dollar and twenty five cents ($1.25) per acre
and that he may use his discretion and judgment
in assessing lands of greater value, where, in his
opinion such lands are not sufficiently valued
by those making returns thereof.
152 Ordered, that the account of Thaddeus Foster for
twelve ($12.00) dollars be approved for meals furnished
to Road Commissioners.
153 Ordered, that a finance Committee be appointed to
whom shall be referred all accounts and claims of every nature
against the County, for examination and report to the Clerk
and President of the Board. The President of the Board
appointed W.F. Rice, E.C.F. Sanchez and Henry James on
said Committee.
154 Ordered, that Thos. J. May be notified that com-
plaint has been made against him for obstructing the
public highway and that the othere commissioners (W.H.
Donaldson & Ward Thomas) in said road be notified
of said complaint with instructions to remove said
obstruction.
155 Ordered, that the order confirming R.F. Taylor
County Solicitor, passed at the meeting of the Board August
3rd, 1894, be and the same is hereby revoked and that the
salary of said Solicitor cease on and after April 13th, 1875.
156 Ordered, that E.C.F. Sanchez be appointed a committee of
one to draw form to be adopted by this Board by which all
paupers applying for aid to this Board, shall be governed.
Ordered, that its Petition of J.M. Sparkman for aid for Jane
Fletcher be postponed till the next meeting.
157 Ordered, that all accounts now on hand be referred
to the finance Committee.
158 Ordered, that notice be given by the Clerk that the
